The Music Industry
The music industry has drastically evolved since the 80s. In the past, music was centered around love and fun, but now it seems to revolve around sex, drugs, and money. It's disheartening to witness this shift and question how we arrived here. Today, artists are often compelled to heed the directives of those in authoritative positions. If their boss instructs them to record something, they have no choice but to comply. It's almost as if these artists have relinquished their autonomy and are being controlled like robots by industry executives. Unfortunately, many artists are willing to go to great lengths to avoid returning to a regular 9 to 5 job. Should we really be supporting artists who are willing to sell their souls for material possessions like lavish houses and fancy cars? Is this the message we want to convey to the younger generation? Fame and fortune should not be the ultimate goal in life, as aspiring artists may not realize the sacrifices and compromises they would have to make to achieve it. As responsible adults, parents must take charge and prevent their children from consuming the garbage being churned out by the industry. Music is a powerful force that has the ability to touch hearts and minds. Therefore, it is crucial that lyrics promote positivity and guide individuals towards the right.
You are so correct Leeia. In the early 80’s music took a drastic turn from the original music that uplifted and poured love and energy. It started out as a message platform but allowed any and everything to surfaced. Pioneers like James Brown, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Motown greats Chuck D … memories will never be forgotten. I love your truth and energy. Keep the great vibes going. Awesome blog.
